THE LOCATION
Cancun doesn’t need much of an introduction, does it? It’s one of the most famous vacation spots in the entire world, and it’s often a short, direct flight from many US cities.
However, there’s much more to do here than just relax on the beach – although if that’s your thing, I can’t say I blame you! To plan the perfect trip, check out this post about the best things to do in Cancun.

THE ALL-INCLUSIVE CONCEPT
Formerly known as Panama Jack Cancun Resorts, Wyndham Alltra Cancun is an All Inclusive hotel under Wyndham’s new brand, Alltra, designed as an upper-midscale segment accessible to all travelers.
Offering great value for its top service, Alltra has been inaugurated very recently. Its first resorts are this one and Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen, which we also visited on our last trip to Mexico.
This All-Inclusive hotel in Cancun provides all meals and drinks and also offers room service to get breakfast, treats, or dinner delivered to your suite. This way you can dine alfresco on your terrace or snuggle in bed with a cup of coffee.
We mostly dined in the restaurants/food stands as we were on a mission to try them all, but we ordered breakfast one morning and this above is the spread that came. Table included! They came with a larger table so we would be more comfortable.
Being one of the most family friendly all inclusive resorts in Cancun, it boasts kids and teens clubs. There are also two swimming pools and 7 restaurants on-site, all of which you’ll have access to during your stay.
Daily and nightly entertainment, health & wellness activities, and waiter service in the pool and beach.

WYNDHAM REWARDS PROGRAM
Since this Cancun hotel all-inclusive is part of the Wyndham family, you can use your points to book a night here. Currently, one night can be secured for 30,000 Wyndham Rewards Points.
I’ve been a Wyndham Rewards Diamond member for over a year, and I keep accumulating points and nights because there are so many nice Wyndham properties around the world!
Plus, becoming a member gives you extra perks such as late check out and upgrades. As a Diamond member, I get suite upgrades subject to availability.
I’m currently writing this Wyndham Cancun review from a 4-star Wyndham property in Dubai, and can you believe we got upgraded to a suite… all for 42 USD a night??
THE BEACH
The very best thing about Wyndham Cancun Resort is hands down, the beach. The resort in fact boasts a private beach with sun loungers and cabanas. The beach has white, powdery sand, and the color of the water is so much better than any other location in Mexico (except maaaaybe Isla Mujeres).
And the sunset, guys! The sunsets in Cancun really hit. Make reservations for dinner a bit later and stay at the beach until sunset – so worth it!
Sun loungers and umbrellas are for all guests on a first-come-first-served basis, while the cabanas are extra. However, I highly recommend booking a cabana for you and your party, even more so if you’re traveling in high season.
It costs around 60 USD to book a cabana for a whole day. The cabana comes with a cooler full of soft drinks and beer, a bottle of sparkling wine, and a very attentive drink service.
We were so lucky to have booked a cabana on a sunny, glorious day, and we truly enjoyed being able to relax on the comfy mattress. Plus, when you book a cabana, you’re on a stretch of beach that is way less crowded than the area with the sun loungers.
THE FACILITIES
The resort boasts an outdoor swimming pool by the beach. This has a waiter service, so you can get your drinks delivered while you soak your feet in the water, or you can walk to the bar to get your fill of cocktails, beer, and soft drinks.
Being the perfect Cancun All Inclusive for families, on the other side of the property you’ll also find two splash pools with water slides for kids.
#Hashtag is a program for teenagers aged 13 to 17, and Camp Alltra is a splash park designed to entertain the youngest ones. It’s one of the few Cancun family resorts with a water park.
There’s also a fitness center and a full-service spa, a dozen dining outlets including restaurants, bars, and lounges, live entertainment every evening, and venues to celebrate weddings or other special occasions.
THE ROOMS
This family-friendly all-inclusive Cancun hotel features 458 rooms, divided into different categories.
The Standard Room accommodates up to 4 people. It features 2 king or double beds, an en-suite bathroom with toiletries, and a seating area with table and chairs, as well as garden views and a minibar.
The Junior Suite offers either garden or lagoon views. It features two king or double beds, a private balcony with a hammock, and a comfortable seating area with dining furniture.
We stayed in a Lagoon View Junior Suite and it was spacious with great views of the sunset over the lagoon.
There’s also an Oceanfront, Premium and Junior Suite with Ocean Views, and a Beachfront Walkout Junior Suite, with a walkout terrace and direct access to the beach.
The Family Junior Suite accommodates 2 adults and 3 kids, and features a furnished private balcony, a hammock, and easy access to Camp Alltra.
The Master Suite is a 645 square feet room with a king-sized bed and a sofa that accommodates 4 guests. A stocked minibar, a seating area with table and chairs, and exclusive access to Alltra VIP Lounge are also included.
The Oceanfront Master Suite also features a balcony with a hot tub, and so does the Ocean View Master Suite, as well as one bedroom with a king-sized bed, a sofa, and access to Alltra VIP Lounge.
For something special, choose the Junior Suite Beachfront Infinity Swim-Up. It comes with a king-sized bed and a sleeper sofa, ocean views, a balcony with a hammock, and a semi-private infinity pool that is shared by just a few rooms.
The largest accommodation type this resort in Cancun, Mexico has to offer is the 1,366 square-feet Presidential Suite. It has two private balconies, an ample living and seating area, two double hot tubs, and an exclusive beach cabana.
It also offers access to the Alltra VIP Lounge. The suite accommodates 4 people in a king-sized bed and sleeper sofa.

THE FOOD
Viaggio
Viaggio is an Italian restaurant that serves the best traditional pasta dishes you’ll find, as well as different kinds of meat and seafood. It opens from 6 PM until 10.30 PM.
The staff surprised us with a table arranged in the beautiful setting of the wine cellar, and it was so romantic! I had the gnocchi with gorgonzola which was so good.
At Sunset
At Sunset is a casual join offering healthy and international options. Think salads with superfoods, grilled salmon, and poke bowls. Bonus: make reservations for dinner, sit on the terrace, and admire the sunset over the lagoon.
They also have some great cocktails, so make sure to order one. At Sunset is open from 5 PM to 10.30 PM.
Salsa
Salsa is a beachside taco bar where you can get tasty tacos for a quick bite before, after, or during your beach adventures.
I went on a DIY taco tour in Cancun to research the best taco joints in the city for an upcoming article I’m writing. I can tell you that these were some of the best tacos we had. Make sure to try the Quesabirria (quesadilla with stew meat) and the mushroom tacos.
Casa de Rosa
At Casa de Rosa you can find authentic Mexican cuisine. Prepare to dine in a setting with an hacienda décor and the most delicious local flavors. The restaurant is open for dinner from 5 PM to 10.30 PM.
The tostadas they brought us for an appetizer were SO good, and make sure to pair it up with a margarita! As for the main dish, you can’t leave without trying the “molcajete”, a traditional dish made of various types of meat and vegetables.
Azul
Azul is a waterfront grill and restaurant specializing in Asian cuisine. It also serves local specialties with wonderful views of the beach. It’s open all morning for breakfast, and again at 6 PM for tasty dinners.
Kaa Bar & Lounge
Located in the lobby, Kaa Bar features daily live music, a lounge to relax, and a large drinks menu. If you feel like it, you can sip all day through, from its opening time at 11 AM to midnight.
Las Olas Bar
Las Olas means the waves, and this beachside bar provides all your favorite drinks. From simple beer to elaborate cocktails are available, so you can savor them in a beach cabana or lounger watching the sea. It opens from 10 AM to 6.30 PM.
Alltra VIP Lounge
Located on the 6th floor, Alltra VIP Lounge features an open bar, snacks, and a selection of hors d’oeuvres to enjoy from 10 AM to 10 PM. The VIP Lounge is reserved for selected suites, so it’s a quiet place, perfect to relax or get some work done.
A shout out to Patricio who made some incredible-looking (and tasting!) cocktails. If you have access to this lounge, make sure to come here for cocktails as it’s the only place you can get premium spirits.
THE ACTIVITIES
There are pretty much countless activities offered by this all-inclusive in Cancun for families, couples, and individuals. These go from live entertainment to watersports and well-being practices.
The hotel features nightly live performances, music, and themed parties. There are Zumba classes at the beach, as well as pool Aqua Aerobics, fitness lessons, and beach volleyball and soccer.
Wine and tequila tastings, yoga, and participation in the turtle release program are other great activities to take part in. (The turtle release in the Wyndham Resort Cancun takes place between August and November).
THE SPA
Aura Spa is home to a beauty salon with plenty of treatments tailored to your skin and style. It also offers a wide range of massages, therapies, and rituals designed to relax your body, mind, and soul.
We opted for a beach Swedish massage, and it was a perfect choice. Because why would you want to get a massage in a room, when you can get it while listening to the sound of waves? We visited during the hottest month, but it was fine for us.
The spa also boasts a hydrotherapy circuit which includes an outdoor tub, a sauna, and a steam bath that will detoxify and rejuvenate your body.
The hydrotherapy circuit is free to be used by all guests, just make sure to make a reservation so you have the hot tub to yourself.
RATES
